Very Sad News...

To my dear furiends,
Ma and Pa decided today that my sister of two months, Caroline, might need to find another home. I am soooo sad! I think Ma is too, because I catch her crying a lot. While they were away on vacation last week, Carol hurt her leg quite badly. She isn't any better yet, and even though I AM trying, I haven't been very good at letting her rest like she needs to. Ma is taking her to the vet one last time this week for x-rays to confirm the vet's suspicions (a torn ACL), and then, unless the vet has any brilliant ideas on how to keep a puppy calm, and get me to not want to play for 6 weeks, and make $1000 drop into our laps, my sweet sister will have to find a new ma and pa. I really hope there is someone out there who loves little Bichons, and has lots of time, money, and love to nurse my little CareBear back to health. Hoping for the best, but missing her a whole bunch already...sniff

--Chester
"Caroline, why can't you come play?"
"Because I hurt my leg. See?"
"I can't walk on it at all or it hurts me."

Oh no! I am so sorry you don't have a little sister any more! I hope she finds someone that will keep her calm and help her leg heal though. :/

Hi there Chester...please tell your mom that I had that very same problem and here's the link to the post she wrote :

We did NOT have the surgery even though we had her examined by an orthopedic surgeon. TWO of them actually. They felt that with small dogs...the surgery is not necessary provided the medicine...anti-inflammatory..worked. She was kept as quiet as we could keep her...you know how hard THAT is. She did spend some time in her crate. She was carried up and down the stairs...NO STEPS. We have alot of steps in our house. Within a couple of days of taking the medicine, we noticed she appeared to be feeling better. We have had one set back since that time, and we immediately gave her the anti-inflammatory....I think it's Metacam?? It is like a miracle drug...helps so much. Please contact me if I can be of any help at all...jmariepursell@yahoo.com or http://bermudabluez.blogspot.com or on Facebook.

We really hope that you can keep your little sister Chester...it is very, very difficult to be all alone in the world...especially when mom and dad have to be away from home.

Oh, gee that is sooooo sad. I just want to scoop her up and adopt her, but I can't handle two. Oh, I hope things get better for you guys. I wish I could help. Good luck at the vet.

PS Chloe had a knee problem about a year ago and she is fine now. I hear her knee pop out - but the doc says it pops back in so it's good. It's when it won't pop back that there's a problem. No surgery, no meds. I am fine. Walk, run, jump - you name it. Listen to Bermuda - she knows.

Oh Chester, we are so sorry to hear this. Do you have a small crate that Caroline could stay in to get some rest? That might help a lot. Mom says she once had a little cockapoo who looked more like a bichon who always popped her knee. We hope that Caroline's leg can be mended. We really wish she could stay there with you, but we know your humans are going to do what is best for her. Hugs to all.

Oh, Chester, I'm so sorry. I hope things work out for the best, whether it's some of the advice I'm reading here working out, or Caroline finding just the right home. I'm so sorry that you're all sad right now, though.

lotsa licks, Lola

Oh no, I'm so sorry to hear this awful news!

One of my dad's beagles has a torn acl too. She's really, really old though so the vet wouldn't do any surgeries on her. She was on some anti-inflammatory meds for awhile and has pain meds for it too if it really gets to her but for the most part, she does really well. We're not sure how she pulled it.

I was going to suggest crating Caroline to help her rest. I see others have suggested that as well.

I really hope it doesn't come down to having to give Caroline up. I know how much you love her and how difficult it would be. But ultimately, the decision is yours, of course, and I know that you'll do what's best.
