Anybody know where that quote is from? My very favorite book: Go Dog Go.
Today I'm just jumping by to say a sad "farewell". My Ma has decided that I'm no longer allowed to have my very own blog because she doesn't have the time to help me with it anymore. I'm a little sad about that, and am still keeping my paws crossed that the time will come again for me to be back live here on Pooch Tales. But in the meantime, she told me I could write on hers every so often - and I'm excited about making new furiends over there! In fact, I just did my introductory post today, and so if you'd like to stop in for a visit at my new digs, just click HERE!
The official homepage where I will become a new guest writer is: Vignettes. I hope you'll all still be my friends and stop by with a wag and a lick every now and then! I'll miss you!

A Story
Once upon a day, I was just trotting around enjoying my morning routine: wake up, walk, breakfast, bath, play time with Carol, Bichon Blitz, and then it was time for my after-blitz sun soak. So off to Ma's bedroom I head, when what do I behold!? Her Majesty, the Queen, asleep in my favorite napping cushion. Grrr...I've told her about that. She knows I get dibs in the mornings, but there she was - big as life nonetheless.
Maybe I'll try tattling to get her in trouble:
Then here comes trouble:
The nerve of THAT CAT! |
"Ma! Auti's in my bed again! Make her get out!" |
Caroline: "Oh look! A cat! Don't worry Chester, I'll get her out for ya" |
Care: "Um...on second thought...I think we need a better plan..." |
To be continued...

Operation GIAEWP Part 3
Ma gives me the training ring for the first time |
Oh rats! I dropped it! |
K, think I got it now. Gotta be careful with something so small! |
Hmmm...tastes kinda good. Oh sorry! Right Ma, FOCUS! |
Trying out the hand off (when I give the ring to the minister) |

Sunny Days, Keeping the Clouds Away...
Caroline and I have a favorite outside place here at Windy Poplars. It's actually the same as Ma's: under the ironwood tree. We have a swing bed set up there, and when it's lovely, Ma will take her work (and us...or maybe she calls us her work too...hmmm...) outside and we'll all have a wonderfully relaxing swing in the fresh air. We usually bring a bonie or two with us and have a good outdoor chew while we're at it.
Here we are on the swing bed with ma chewing on our bonies |
Carol jumped off to potty, and is enjoying some time looking at the brook. |
Here I am burying my bonie under Ma so Caroline can't find it when she comes back! |
Then we got down for a romp around the yard (which is starting to get GREEN!) |
Still romping... |
Do you have a favorite place to hang out at your house when it gets warm outside?

Operation GIAEWP Part 2
Hello {{echo}} hello hello... Is anybody out there out there out there??? I know, I've been such a bad bloggy pooch lately. Life's just been busy, Ma's been preoccupied and hasn't taken too many pics of me (despite my constant nagging). But, she has come to her senses, apologized, we kissed and made up (well, I licked and made up), and we're back on bloggy track now. Have you missed me?!
Today is part 2 in my Operation Get Into Auntie Em's Wedding Party (GIAEWP for short). Although I may have to change it to: GIACWP because I've had to start calling Auntie Em, Auntie Clotty because she went and got herself some blood clots A MONTH BEFORE HER WEDDING! How incredibly inconvenient. I would've waited until after my wedding to get some (just sayin'). Anyway, I've been visiting her as often as I can, like any good neph-pup should, and I'll sit on the bed and snuggle with her for awhile to help her feel better. I know. I'm a giver.
But, the wedding will go on - clots or not clots! SO, thought I'd better start brushing up on my dancing skills since the wedding party always does a special dance with the bride and groom. I asked Ma to help me (since she's a dancer), and we've had a few productive lessons. I actually think my form is getting pretty good!

In the above pic I'm in natural ballroom hold. Then, the pic below, I think, really shows my excellent frame (it's important for the boy to have a good frame and posture Ma says).
So, Auntie Clotty...are you ready for a furry addition to your wedding party yet???

My Doggy Bed
I just love my doggy bed! Do you have one? I'll squeeze my way into it, no matter where it ends up!
Even when Ma smooshes it between the buffet and Caroline's pen! Where there's a will there's a way!
There! See? Plenty of room! Ahhh...bed sweet bed!

Just Trying to Sleep...
My dear sister, Caroline the Crazy, while normally delightful to have around (she likes to play with me WAY more than The Queen does) is sometimes her own variety of a royal pain. Case in point: when I am trying to achieve my Sunday afternoon handsome sleep with Pa. There I was, all snuggled up on my favorite cushy throw behind Pa on the overstuffed chair, snoozing contentedly away, when who do you suppose bounds up onto the chair with the vigor of a puppy on caffeine pills? You got it. HER. Here's how it went down:
Me. Happy. Snoozing. Peaceful. |
Caroline wakes me up with a smooch and wants me to come play. |
When I tell her I don't want to play, she decides to give me a bath. |
...and clean out my ears. Still no sleeping going on here... |
FINALLY I convince her to chillax and she lays down... |
...and she eventually starts to drift away to sleep... |
Calm is restored, and I'm back to my Sunday afternoon handsome sleep. |

Ratting Out The Queen!
Today's post is the result of some super sleuth-y covert operations on my part. This isn't something that is general public knowledge. She keeps it under wraps pretty well...but I am about to break the story to the world...The Queen...yes...even Her Majesty The Queen...has a dirty habit!
.
.
.
Are you ready for this?
She.
Licks.
Plastic.
Oh my goodness! Have you ever heard of a stranger habit? Not I (although Carol has quite a few strange ones herself). Autumn will seek out plastic of any kind. Snuggle down next to it all cozy, and LICK it. For a long time.Truly an addiction. I think she needs intervention personally. - Here are a few photos I managed to click (while hiding in Ma's ficus tree) of The Queen and her dirty little secret:

Yup, there she goes. Licking away. |

Has Spring Sprung?
Oh my chewies! Has it been gorgeous outside lately or what???! I think Spring may have come a little early to Windy Poplars this year (although Pa says he thinks Winter still has a few cold tricks up her sleeve). Well, I tell you what, we're sure making good use of the warmth while it's here. Hope those darn fwees don't come back early too. Yuk, yuk, yuk. I hate them. The other day Ma and Pa took Carolou the Caribou (I like to call her that sometimes) and I out for a nice long constitutional. Here are some pictures from our outing:
What's the weather been like where you are?

Mission: Possible
Hello Furiends! Today commences "Operation Get-Into-Auntie Em's Wedding Party" (Operation GIAEWP for short). My Auntie Em is getting married in just two months, and I've always wanted to be in a wedding! I think it would be quite an adventure! Don't you? For goodness sake, I'm the perfect color to go with any scheme you could dream up! I'm chute, and adorable, and well, why wouldn't you want a Bichon in your wedding I ask you? So anyway, I thought maybe if I posted a little about why I would be so indispensable to her wedding party, maybe Auntie Em would break down and ask me.
Today, I'm exhibiting Reason #1 of "Why I Should Be in Your Wedding Party": How very handsome I look in a bow tie:
...and another angle (in case you're still deciding if you agree or not!)...
Pee.Pee.S.: If you wanna put in a good word for me as to why I would be such a perfect addition to her wedding party, it wouldn't hurt!

I hope you're reading Auntie Em! :-)
Oh, and Pee.S.: Don't you wish you had an Auntie Em??? I know, I know. I'm lucky! Just think: if our house is ever in danger of blowing away to Oz, I can actually yell bark "Auntie Em! Auntie Em!" because I actually have one!

Hide and Seek
There is SO much to teach a newcomer about living here at Windy Poplars. I've had my paws full the past few months - let me tell ya! But I've been trying to teach little Carolou some fun stuff too - like how to play hide and seek. She's kinda getting the hang of it, but she still has some things to learn. See for yourself:
Gettin' there. Just needs to conceal that little black nose to get the full "hide" goin' on. These skills, although used in play among us furry beasts, are also well utilized by the discerning pooch in such instances as when Ma or Pa say things like, "Time to trim your nails!" Yup. That is definitely hide-under-the-bed worthy.

Well that's all for today folks. Thanks for stopping by! What are some of your favorite games?

Early to Bed...
...early to rise - makes a pooch healthy, wealthy, and wise.
I seem to be falling asleep early every night that we watch a movie these days (which has been more frequently lately since Ma has some busy crafting project she's been working on into the wee sma's the past week). Must be getting old. Or must be getting handsome (you know...getting my Wednesday, February 2, 2011

MY FAVORITE PICTURE!!!
Thought I'd share with you, my dear furiends, one of my favorite pictures I've taken of late:
We were at the grandhumans house visiting Monte when this was taken btw. Allow me to break down just a few of the many reasons why this is such a fabulous moment caught on film:
1. Aunt Amy is obviously disturbed (mad).
2. I am obviously not in the picture, and so am obviously not the object of her disturbation.
3. Monte and Caroline are. (!) heheh
4. Monte looks like an evil alien on crack (and he was kind of acting like it)!
5. Caroline looks like a possessed abominable snowman.
6. I was sitting calmly on Ma's lap observing the fracas from afar and thus was lavishly praised for my goodness.
7. I truly savor moments like this - when I am atop (for however brief a time) the podium of "The Best Dog of the Family" award. :-)

Chester vs. the Camera...
...and Chester wins! Gotcha Ma!
Here is the picture Ma was trying to snap on a recent car trip of Caroline looking all chute and everything (incidentally, do your humans say "chute" instead of "cute"? I always kind thought Ma and Pa said that because it went better with Chester - you know: "Ch"ester the "Ch"ute? Anyway...moving on...) -
The picture that Ma wanted:
But this is the picture she got first! Just when she was about to hit the button, HA! Tricked her!
...and one more... Ha! Tricked you again Ma! Am I good or what?!
Just didn't want you to forget who your favorite pooch was :-)!

Some Tricks for You!
So Ma said she wanted to try and videotape some of my tricks - and I was all super excited! My 10 minutes of fame had arrived! My fur was trimmed, I was lookin' handsome, but then, as soon as that darn camera turned on, I got all shell-shocked and stuff! Kinda forgot my tricks that we had rehearsed, then Caroline decided to come in and steal the show and got me all even more flustered. Good grief! I wanted another take, but Ma said she didn't have the battery life for it. I really am smarter than this video makes me out to be. I promise. Please believe me! Ok, is that sounding desperate? I'll stop now. Annnnddddd....roll the tape!
